Mamma Mia. here we go again: Meryl Streep to reprise movie musical role
Mamma mia, here we go again. No, literally – that's the title of the newly announced sequel to the hit movie musical.
Hollywood studio Universal has announced that Meryl Streep is set to reprise her role as Donna Sheridan, the ABBA-lovin' single mother and hotel owner, in an upcoming follow-up to the surprise 2008 smash Mamma Mia! .
British director Ol Parker (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel ) is attached to write and direct the sequel, which – with the quite on-the-nose title Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! – is expected to hit cinemas next year.
According to Variety . the film is still circling on an angle, with the forerunner being a "prequel" set years before the original's story takes place.

In its announcement, Universal said the film will feature ABBA songs that weren't already featured in the original hit – "along with some reprised favourites". ABBA members Benny and Bjorn are once again attached as executive producers.
The 2008 film – itself an adaptation of the 1999 West End musical of the same name – was a smash hit when it opened in cinemas in June of that year.
Shot and set in the Greek Isles, it followed Donna's daughter Sophie's (Amanda Seyfried) attempts to find the identity of her real father from three of Donna's ex-lovers, played by Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard.
